About the Conference:

The First North American Conference on Bisexuality, Gender, and Sexual Diversity (NACB 2001) is quite possibly the most broadly-based conference on the continent addressing issues of bisexuals and other sexual minorities. A product of a proud 10-year history of bisexual community conferences --- and fueled by the bisexual community’s strong relations with the transgender, polyamory, intersex, and other sexual minority communities --- NACB 2001 promises to provide a holistic look at the needs and desires of our many diverse communities.

Prominent speakers delegates can now expect include:

  • pioneering transgendered activist and author, Kate Bornstein
  • the electrifying 'guerilla theologian' Eliyahou Farajeje
  • Intersex Society of Canada founder, Doctor Morgan Holmes
  • editor of the Bi Resource GuideRobyn Ochs
  • Barry Saiff, Chair of the BiNet USA Steering Committee; and
  • Lani Kaahumanu, co-editor of the ground-breaking anthology, Bi Any Other Name.
Exciting events to anticipate include a:
  • Community vendor fair
  • Dance
  • Films and cultural performances to suit almost every taste
  • Bi/Trans Art Auction and Art Exhibition
  • Community Mural Project
  • BDSM play party; and the
  • Formal meetings of both BiNet USA and BiNet Canada
With literally dozens of workshops already confirmed in subjects ranging from recent bi theory to spirituality, polyamory and the 'genderless orgasm', there are guaranteed to be entire series of workshops to challenge and scintillate anyone. Take a moment to look through the workshop and timetable pages to gain access to the most up-to-date listings!

NACB 2001 was first conceived at 1998’s 5th International Bisexual Conference in Boston; an event which drew close to 1000 participants from around the world, featured up to 26 simultaneous tracks of workshops, and was the site of countless cultural events of all kinds. In contrast, NACB 2001 will bring together delegates from across North America representing all sexual orientations and gender identities, with community leaders, service providers, academics and activists coming from all across our diverse continent to share in the joys and fears --- the dreams and ideals --- of our ever-so fluid lives.

What with the many recent changes in the lives of sexual minorities (advances in equality rights for same sex couples, the formation of a Canadian national bisexual network, the rebirth and re-evaluation of priorities by older bisexual organizations, the recent foundation of US and Canadian organizations focusing on the rights of intersexed people, and the growth of the North American trans/gender movement), NACB 2001 stands to be a watershed event in the lives of all sexual minorities. As we continue to assess where we’re at, and begin to look tentatively now towards the future --- politically, socially, and organizationally --- make sure you get your voices heard:
