How to get to Vancouver for the conference

Driving By Car:
If you're anywhere in the North Western US, why not pack a bunch of people into a car and drive to Vancouver? It's certainly the cheapest way to travel. A few estimated driving times:

  • Seattle - Vancouver: 2.5 to 3 hours
  • Portland - Vancouver: 5.5 to 7 hours

We'll even help you find travel companions! Want to drive to Vancouver and bring some others with you to share gas costs? Want to go to Vancouver but don't have a ride? Go to our ride board and post a message...and read messages from others.

Directions
From Highway 99 going North (which becomes Granville Street in the city), take either 41st Avenue or 16th Avenue going west to UBC. Once on campus there are a number of parking lots you can use -- there is very little street parking available on campus. For a map of the campus, see "At the University" below.

Transit Strike Settlement:
(August 2, 2001): The provincial government has stepped in after four months to legislate an end to the transit strike in Vancouver, and all transit services will be up and running again on Tuesday, August 7! Transit will even be free in the city for three days from August 7 to 9th as they get up and running again.

How to Get to the UBC Conference Centre & Gage Residences by bus:
For complete transit information, go to the Translink website at www.translink.bc.ca, or call the Information Centre at (604)953-3333. They are open every day from 6:30 am to 11:30 pm PST.
